Money makes the world go 'round, and money can buy happiness - these are two truths Dagr believes more than anything else. They've seen it first-hand, after all - their live was only truly a good one when money was in the picture. Determined to make gil, they'll do anything they can, regardless of how dirty their hands must get.

Despite this, they're generally a relaxed, carefree individual who makes connections easily and is loyal to those who have earned their trust. Ultimately, they search for happiness and believe that can be obtained through money - so if they were to find that happiness elsewhere, would they really want to throw it away for gil?

appearance
Tall, toned, and with striking features, Dagr stands out from a crowd... though that may just be due to their bright hair. They like the attention and take good care of their appearance in turn, always making sure to dress and look their best. Their pride carries in their movements - they never hesitate or waver, always moving decisively. They're also very prone to taking up a lot of space and their gestures are very expressive. Though their heart isn't on their sleeve - exactly what it is they're thinking and feeling is always hidden behind their enigmatic smile. Link to some reference images!

abilities
rogueAs a Rogue, Dagr wields twin knives and deals quick strikes that focus on speed rather than power. They can also strike an enemy's weak point, forcing them to take more damage for a short amount of time. They aren't exceptionally powerful among Rogues or even all that noteworthy in combat, but they are skilled at all things stealthy and manage to get the drop on enemies pretty easily, allowing for swift kills.
other Dagr has some limited experience with other weapon types as well and can use them to decent levels if need be. They can wield a bow, a sword, or a lance, but they are nowhere near as skilled as they are with knives. They don't even get the proper class names with these because they aren't that skilled and have very limited formal training! Dagr has no magical capability and nothing else of note.
background
Born to parents with a relationship constantly on the rocks, Dagr learned one thing very early on - money can buy happiness. Things were great between their parents when they had money, it was only when that money ran out that things got even worse. Dagr's early life in La Noscea was fraught with hardships - their parents weren't only cruel to each other, but often to Dagr as well, blaming them for their financial troubles, among other such things. Though they did what they could to try to be a good kid, Dagr was trying to find their place in the world.

Eventually, their father left after a particularly fierce tirade and didn't return home. Their mother attempted to make ends meet, but this only worsened their treatment of Dagr - to the point where the Yellowjackets took notice and interfered. Dagr was sent to an orphanage where they would spend the rest of their youth. Though in some ways the orphanage was more difficult to deal with, in others it was good - at the very least they were surrounded by other children whom they could befriend or tease relentlessly.

When Dagr reached their teens and left the orphanage, they took on a new name and new identity and started using different pronouns. Determined to live their new life to the fullest, they attempted to work as a sailor for a time. The income wasn't steady enough for them and while they did greatly enjoy the sea, the lifestyle just wasn't something they were cut out for. Their attempts at honest work quickly fell to the wayside as they wanted money - and so they turned to petty thievery.

This led them into contact with the Rogues' Guild, where they were taken in and given a proper education in the way of daggers. These were already their preferred weapons of choice, so it was a natural fit, and one that would lead to their new name - Dagr Thorne. Though life with the Rogues was truly a joy, Dagr couldn't help but feel antsy about how well things were going... and also about how little money they were actually making.

When they were given an offer to work for a rather underhanded company out of Ul'dah, they took it. The increased paycheck was really all they needed, but the thought of even bigger contracts was truly what led to them jumping ship. These contracts started small and eventually escalated - Dagr has even killed for this company.

Though they may have some regrets about leaving the Rogues, the money is nice. After all, isn't that all they've ever wanted?
